The Nourish Center (TNC) is a holistic nutrition private practice committed to empowering women to nourish their body from within. Shanon Whittingham founded The Nourish Center to improve the access to and delivery of quality medical nutrition therapy, that can only be given by registered dietitian-nutritionist (RDN). We offer a variety of services that help you reach your health goals through using our Nourish Formula.
 
While both men and women contract various conditions, some health issues affect women differently and more commonly.  Women suffer higher heart attack deaths compared to men. Depression and anxiety exhibit more frequently among female patients. Rates of obesity are higher in women than in men. We believe women can lower the risk of many health issues and diseases with healthy habits. Instead of disease correction, we hope to provide health promotion. Even though we can work with men to help them achieve their goals, because of these reasons our services are primarily tailored for women.

Our Approach: THE NOURISH FORMULA

The Nourish Formula takes a holistic, personalized approach to health and healing. We integrate a variety of nutrition therapies including whole foods, tailored supplements, and mind-body modalities to help you reach your goals. This formula uses techniques from integrative and functional medicine that allow the body to heal and work as a strong unit.

  • NUTRITION — Our health is vital, and it explores more than the absence of disease. Food and supplements contain vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients that can balance hormones or disrupt health. Through personalized nutrition, we teach you the value of food as medicine so that you can reduce the need for medications. 

  • MOVEMENT — We encourage our clients to not just exercise, but to move their bodies in ways that are enjoyable for them.

  • REST — Whether it may be getting 8 hours of quality sleep or engaging in a weekly sabbatical, we encourage all our clients to improve their quality of sleep and have moments of rest.

  • MINDFULNESS — We believe achieving optimal health is not just about what you eat — equally important is how you think. Do you have a spiritual practice? Do you have positive and meaningful relationships? Do you spend time in nature? We champion the importance of not only feeding your body but also feeding your mind and soul.

 Since 2017 I have been committed to taking a holistic approach to health and well-being. Rather than focusing on illness or specific parts of the body, a holistic approach considers the whole person . That means that I don’t just ask you what you eat and if you exercise! I also look at how your mental health affects your eating habits, if you have a spiritual practice that impacts the foods you avoid eating, or if you prefer to use natural non-toxic remedies instead of medication (such as elderberry for immune support!). A holistic approach emphasizes the connection of mind, body, and spirit.

 

Our bodies have a tremendous ability to heal. At The Nourish Center our main goal is to address any underlying causes of disease while integrating the core concepts of holistic medicine to determine the most effective method  needed to help you reach your  wellness goals. We offer a variety of services ranging from public YouTube educational videos, group sessions, and private 1-on-1 coaching. Regardless of what resources or services you choose, I am committed to helping you form habits that lead to lifelong healing, health, and well-being.
